Writer

In her creative nonfiction, Jenell explores Christian spirituality, mysticism, everyday life, and humor. She has published eight books and dozens of articles and book reviews. Her writing has been published with The Cresset, Christianity Today, Christian Scholars Review, Immerse, Good News Magazine, Patheos, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and the L.A. Times.

Cultural Anthropologist

Jenell is Professor of Anthropology at Messiah University in Grantham, PA. She lives by Margaret Mead’s adage: “The world is my field. It’s all anthropology.” Her scholarly interests include hunter-gatherer life, human consciousness, religion, gender, and social change. 

Person

Jenell and her husband James live in south central Pennsylvania. They are members at First United Methodist Church. They have three adult sons and a cat named Moe.
